the refrigerator

On Tuesday, June 26, 2007, matt went to work picking up a car and I decided to tackle the refrigerator panesls. We had bought an older sub zero for our kitchen but it had these black formica panels. I bought the magnetic primer and the chalkboard paint inhopes to make a chalkboard door. I started sanding it, followed by rolling the primer on. The roller wasn't giving it a smooth surface at all so i decided to get the paint sprayer out. We had bought it for big jobs but had not used it. I got it working and it did a much better job. i did 3 coats of the magnetic primer. it was so hot out it dried very quickly. Then I loaded up the sprayer with the chalkbaord paint and it wouldn't work at all. I had cleaned it oiled it and even thinned it out to no sucess. The chalkboard paint talks about using a sprayer, so it seems like it should work. So the chalkboar layer had to be rolled on my perfectly sprayed primer panels. and to add to injury bugs kept landing in it becauseI was working outside. The paint can doesn't tetll me how many layers it needs, but that i need to wait 24 hours between coats. I had to leave town before it cured so I will check it out when i am back and see how i feel about a second coat.
